Here’s some info on the interesting inhabitants of the house atop the Traveling Hill Monster. Please, be aware that some info may contain spoilers and of course, plenty of craziness.

Pumpernickel

Pumpernickel, the Nightexplorer

He is a strange breed of creature that seems born to adventure and explore, so a Traveling Hill Monster is the perfect location to set up a home. It’s a very big, cluttered house filled with many, many strange “treasures” and mysterious objects. Though most evenings he is out on some sort of adventure, there are times when he can’t go exploring. Then he’s at home, up to some sort of trouble no doubt. He is also a Member of the Society of Nightexplorers, a secret organization. His current standing is: Ember Clan, Comet Class, Rank 5 or at least that’s what it says on travel log id.
Note: He has a very cool “explorer’s” pack that seems to hold an infinite amount of interesting stuff. He does lose sandwiches quite a bit in there though.

Taile

Taile, Pumpernickel's Tail

She’s always behind Pumpernickel and his adventurous ideas mostly because she’s a bit attached to him. On their nighttime adventure, she is Pumpernickel’s sidekick and is constantly pulling him out of terrible situations. Though she looks like she’s on fire all the time, it is simply a sign of the Ember clan. Yet, she does have the ability to catch alight when she wants (also a trait of the Ember clan apparently).
Note: She has surprisingly good penmanship and a knack for writing long letters.

Ryjill

Ryjill, the Traveling Hill Monster

A hairy, but gentle, giant of a beast with a tree atop its nose and two more for horns- not to mention the small forest on its back and terribly long tail too. Traveling slowly, but steadily, during the day and sleeping at night, this odd animal seems to filter its food from the air. It’s covered in a soft grassy/ mossy hair (?) just don’t stray too close to its ears since it has a habit of swishing them back and forth every so often- you don’t want to find out how far it is to the ground.
Note: It likes to sing just before dawn for some currently unknown reason.

Fang

Fang, the Flying Boat

He seems to be Pumpernickel’s pet either that or he just likes to be served his meals. He has a soft and feathery exterior coat over a woody inside. He has a talent for gliding on the wind even when there doesn’t seem to be any. His strangest feature is a rope-like tail that he can grasp things with- presumably to hold on to a perch or a dock for instance (though he rarely sleeps outside anymore.) He also seems to have a strange ability to know when Pumpernickel needs help which is very good because he gets into trouble on his adventures a lot.
Note: He likes the spicy Bellsly and it’s best to stay away from his breath after he eats some.

Spike

Spike, the Bramble

She is a capricious little fluff-ball who is always out for fun and a free ride atop of Pumpernickel’s head. Though she sometimes seems to be a pest, I believe her motives are mostly harmless and she means well. Her past is a little hazy and I’m not sure how she came to live with Pumpernickel at this time.
Note: She bounces very well and for surprisingly long distances.

Dishmice

The Dishmice

Tiny white mice with black stripes, mane, and tail who love to clean. I’m serious, they LOVE to clean. I believe at one time they cleaned most of the house, but due to some of Pumpernickel’s “treasures” they’ve decided to wisely stick to cleaning and living in the kitchen. Occasionally, they’ll travel to the Round Hall to see Fang and the others. All I know for sure is that the one with the funny hat and feather is their leader.
Note: They crashed landed their “hot air balloon” on Ryjill many moons ago during a terrible storm. Since then, they don’t like heights or flying too much.

Meeps

The Meeps

Small little creatures which come in a variety of colors it seems with cute puff-ball tails. Each type seems to prefer a different diet and have some interesting talents. I’ve currently only seen the green, purple, and black variety, but Pumpernickel has talked about other colors as well. The green Meep seems to feed off of dirt, moss, and leaves (?) and has a knack for tending growing plants. As for the purple variety, they are very shy and I have no idea what they eat (though they must eat something.) They seem to like to live inside shadowy places- there’s simply a ton living in Pumpernickel’s study for example. The black Meep is the one you’re least likely to see, for they hide in the darkest parts of places and come out only at night (to hunt) usually. They are the only carnivorous Meeps (that I know of) and will eat pretty much anything they can get in their mouths. Having nearly been that small tidbit of a treat, I can attest to their speedy and determined nature. They are still darn cute though.
Note: They like to snore when they sleep~ some more loudly than others.

Nibbles

Nibbles, the Pig-Leaf

A small, but friendly little creature who is quite happy just to nibble on piece of moss all day. He has recently moved to the outer area of the garden on Ryjill’s back, so little about his past is currently known. He does have a rather adorable little curled tail though. I have no idea what's up with the stem and leaves coming out of his head though.....
Note: He’s very good at building things. His home is a fine example of this skill.

Crimson, the White-bellied Catfish

He’s a usually cheerful if somewhat overly playful sort of character. His friends call him Crimmie, for short. Spike calls him, Crummie, as a joke that’s much to his displeasure. Ryjill’s Lake became his home after he was rescued and healed by Pumpernickel who found him nearly dead after a terrible ordeal. This incident has left him blind in one eye and some damage to his back and fins. Though he use to keep to himself, Crimson has now become the social butterfly, so if you need to know what’s going on at the Lake just ask him.
Note: Though he seems to have pointed teeth, he’s actually a vegetarian.

Serbert, the Orange-spotted Dovefin

He’s a gentle Flying Fish who likes to spend most of his time baking tasty treats and cultivating the fruit patch in Pumpernickel’s garden. He has a small, but cute house that Pumpernickel and Spike made for him. Unlike many of the other inhabitants of the house, Serbert was not nursed back to health by Pumpernickel. He simply flew by and liked the look of the place and decided to stay.
Note: He likes to stack pebbles and small rocks in his rock and sand garden by his house.

Gingerbell, the Velring

She seems to have no real “home” on Ryjill rather she wanders about and seems to turn up when you least want her too. She’s not much into proper manners nor good cheer. And if you’re lucky, all you’ll get is a few snide remarks if you get too near, but if instead of chatting, you follow the sound of her tail- you may just end up as a snack so beware!
Note: She likes to pick on Spike most of all.

Juniper, Prince of Starshine Breeze

You’ll always know when he’s coming due to his familiar “Poof Poon” magical transportation sound. Though he’s been studying magic to become a great king (or so he says), he isn’t very good at it at all. His attempts at magical spells usually result in an explosion or some other equally bad side effect. Despite all this though, he generally seems to just want to help and fit in (and perhaps pretend his isn’t a prince for a while.) He tries to avoid talking about himself in any great detail, so there’s little else to say about him at the moment.
Note: He only comes to Pumpernickel’s house when he’s hiding out from his family back home.

Pip, the Kite

He’s Pumpernickel’s mail carrier, usually. A very cheerful and talkative sort of creature, he’s always willing to do a favor for a friend. The scarf he wears is a gift from Pumpernickel and Taile who knitted it herself. He’s always full of energy and humor which is just part of the nature of the Kitae.
Note: His only true weakness is his favorite food, Pom-Pom fruit.

Kit, the Nightexplorer

She’s much like Pumpernickel which isn’t surprising since they are both Nightexplorers. Unlike Pumpernickel though, she is from the Stone Clan and because of this she’s really strong. We really don’t know much else about her at the moment. Her current standing is: Stone Clan, Comet Class, Rank 4 (sometimes it pays to snoop a bit).
Note: She has a cute swirl on her forehead and little leaves (?) for wings (?)

Kaboodle, Kit's Tail

Just like Taile, Kaboodle is always there to help Kit out on her adventures and Pumpernickel too as it happens. His overall “leaf like” look is a distinctive trait of the Stone Clan as is his immense strength.
Note: He seems quite shy.

Horatio, the Bramble Chick

Apparently, he ran into Kit (literally) while being washed away in a flash flood. Kit nursed him back to health, but has no idea where he came from originally.
Note:
One of his eyes is a light blue.

WindSoar, the Werebrin

A ~HUGE~ bird that Pumpernickel knows from long ago and who has offered to take him and Kit to the Winter Springs Nightexplorer Archive (much to Kit's dismay).
Note: His sense of humor could take a bit of getting use to.

Ludin, the Nightexplorer

A seemingly happy-go-lucky flirt who is currently assigned to the Winter Springs Nightexplorer Archive as a steward. He is an expert, they say, in herbal medicine. His current standing is: Mist Clan, Sun Class, Rank 8
Note: He and Pumpernickel go way back and he seems to have some secret knowledge over him.

Luck, Ludin's Tail

Unfortunately, she is not as lucky as her name implies. In fact, she's quite clumsy and at times forgetful. She is usually pulling Ludin out of some mess due to his overly playful manner or his sometimes annoying idea of good humor. Being a member of the Mist clan, she looks like a little rain cloud and indeed, it is said, that her clan has the ability to call out the rain and control the wind.
Note: Oddly enough, her true talent lies in going herbal and rare plants.

Hornwort, the Nightexplorer

Grumpy and serious, he has no time for folly or fools or both, he thinks, in the case of Ludin. He dislikes cute thinks and prefers note taking and reading to any sociable behavior. He is an admitted workaholic and overachiever hence why he is already an Archivist even with his current standing being: Wave Clan, Sun Class, Rank 8.
Note: He has a little pet Polee bug name Hubert who often hides in his hair.

Lock, Hornwort's Tail

Quite the opposite of her Nightexplorer, Lock is quite cheerful and can often be caught swishing around to one of her made up tunes while Hornwort works. Looking like a clump of water weed is a sign of the Wave Clan and not surprising, she has their ability to manipulate water.
Note: She has much more "child-like" amusements than Hornwort and in her secret time she loves to invent toys and make cute things- something I not so sure Hornwort knows about.

Tart, the Orange Meep

She's got some serious attitude. She likes to bite apparently, even if it’s not into something sweet like Hornwort’s tail, Lock. Ludin seems to be the only one who can charm her or perhaps, he just knows which sweets she likes best.
Note: She takes quite a liking to the Blue Meep Kit and Pumpernickel rescued out in the valley below the archive.
