This week's question is from Mike~
who asked Ludin: What is a “sugar-coated Nightnut”?

….It’s something that can be eaten by itself as a treat or used in cakes/desserts to add a nutty sweet flavor. The Nightnut itself comes from the Crescent flower (also called the Sicklepetal) which belongs to the Moonkiss flora family tree. All Moonkiss floras bloom only during moonlit nights. The Crescent flower, in particular, has medium sized creamy white 5 petal blooms each with a deep red crescent shaped half way down their length with their tips also ending in the same deep red coloring. The unique thing about the Crescent flower which distinguishes it from its cousins, is that it can be grown into a bush which if allowed to get dense enough will eventually begin to produce nuts all year. I’m no big expert now on flora and fauna, so my only guess as to why it will only produce nuts when grow into a bush is that the density of leaves and branches keep most creatures from picking off the fruits before they mature. ^^;;; The Nightnut it a favorite snack of many forest dwelling creatures like Brambles for instance. In fact, it’s been known that a Bramble family unit will guard and defend any Crescent flower within their territory for this very reason. I should thank Pumpernickel for that last bit of info, but I sound smarter when I say it. ^__^ ! Heehee. Now you can eat the nut plain which is usually how you’d used it in food mix or you can coat it in a fine glaze of sugar to make it even sweeter which is my favorite way of eating it. I myself have discovered a few ways that the Nightnut oil can be used in medical potions to counteract indigestion and the inflammation of wounds. And here, I bet you thought they gave me a cloak to wear just because I look so darn cool in it. ^_~ !

!~ Meep Adoptions Now Open ~!

Look what I've just discovered! MEEPS! These little cuties are just a bit lonely- so give them a great loving home! They love to be cuddled and make great pets or travel companions! Each one measures about 4 1/2 inches square. They come in the above colors: green, black, and purple. The green and purple Meeps have black safety eyes and the black Meep have red safety eyes. Each one is lovingly handmade out of Alpine Fleece by me, Squeaks. They are all individuals, so no two are alike and they may vary slightly from the ones pictured above. They come with helpful hints and facts about Meeps , so don't be afraid if you're a first time owner. ^_^ ! Join the Meep Owners board on the World of Pumpernickel Message Board !

-------- The Adoption Fee for each Meep is $ 7.00 plus S&H --------

They're almost as cute from behind as they are from the front. All the Meeps have little sparkling pom-pom tails! The green Meep has a yellow tail. the black Meep has a blue tail, and the purple Meep has a pink tail. Their bottoms also sport a the World of Pumpernickel label, so you don't confuse them with super wild Meeps.
Just A little note on Meeps: Green Meeps like to grow and tend plants (even fake houseplants). They love the outdoors and are the most adventurous of the Meeps. Black Meeps usually come out only at night and are the only currently known carnivorous Meep. They eat just about anything they can fit into their mouths and can be trained, they say, to be faithful watch Meep. Purple Meeps tend to be the most shy of all and prefer comfortable and shadowy locations. They eat dust and dirt- so they're perfect for homelife! Just don't be too surprised if they make themselves right at home in your bed under your pillow or between your socks in a drawer.
Mine likes to hide amongst my stuffed animals on my bed. ^^;;;
